How can someone in a Principal Investigator's lab get access to W.A.L.T.E.R.?

Until the College of Ag. & Environmental Sciences (CA&ES) is given permission to open the application up more broadly, W.A.L.T.E.R. is restricted to:

  1. Principal Investigators (who can see their projects and the projects for which they are the award PI), and
  2. Individuals assigned the Project Manager role in Aggie Enterprise

When I look at my project(s), why am I receiving a message of "No personnel found"?

The College of Ag. & Environmental Sciences (CA&ES) currently only has access to personnel data for projects paying employees housed within CA&ES and some departments in ANR. As a result, personnel and funding entry information for employees housed outside CA&ES will not appear in the personnel table. We have submitted a request for campus-wide personnel data access, but we don't have a timeline for when that will be available. Once it is, personnel like GSRs from other colleges should populate correctly.

Who can see personnel information in W.A.L.T.E.R.?

Access to personnel information is limited to Principal Investigators (who can see information for the employees housed in CA&ES and paid on their projects) and individuals assigned the Project Manager role in Aggie Enterprise. Access cannot be given more broadly until there is a way to confirm that people requesting access have the relevant roles within UCPath Cognos and Aggie Enterprise.

Why am I not seeing all of my grants and tasks in W.A.L.T.E.R.?

By default, only active grants and tasks are visible. To see expired grants and inactive tasks, click the Show expired and/or Show inactive tasks buttons located in the top right of each section.

Why are there non-zero balances in my expired sponsored projects and inactive tasks for internal projects?

Sponsored projects are expired at the end of the project's closeout period to ensure no more expenses are charged to the project. However, there are sometimes still steps that need to be taken by fiscal officers and Contracts and Grants Accounting to close out the project and award with the extramural sponsor. Once those steps are taken, the balance should be changed to zero. Tasks for internal projects can be inactivated at any time to ensure no more expenses are charged to that task. When there is a non-zero balance, the task will need to be reactivated, the balance zeroed out, and then inactivated again.
